The Signature is our current top of the range interconnect. We know how important shielding is to audio cables and the Signature has one of the most advanced shielding systems available. There are three layers of shielding surrounding each conductor; the first is a unique flat braid shield, the second a foil and the third a conventional round braid.
The insulation is Teflon® and the conductor is made from silver plated oxygen free copper and is a single solid core. Two runs of cable are used for each interconnect and in a departure from the rest of our range the shields are not connected at all, but left fully floating. There is however a small socket at one end of the cable that can be connected to a flying lead fitted with a crocodile clip at one end. This allows you to experiment with connecting the shield to various earth points. Whether or not connecting the shield makes an improvement is entirely dependent on the system and it really is a case of try it and see. In the cases where connecting the shield via the flying lead makes an improvement, the improvement is in the area of very fine detail so it is in effect further reducing the noise floor. In our experience, connecting the shield has never made a system sound worse.
Terminations
Very simple, it's not called the Signature RCA for nothing. We can only fit RCA plugs to this cable, using the same plugs as fitted to the Anthem. There are plans for a Signature XLR and a Signature Din cable but these are still very much in development.
How does it sound?
If the noise floor of the Anthem is low, the Signature's is lower still. You can hear as far into a recording as your hi-fi system will allow. The sound is transparent, extremely detailed and seriously dynamic, but the really important thing is the way that it manages to combine all the above abilities into a sound that is incredibly simple to listen to. Once it has run in the Signature will not only amaze with its level of information but it will present it in a beautifully coherent manner as well.
