The Epos M15.2 is a floor-standing, rear-ported, two-way speaker finished in a choice of black, light cherry or dark cherry veneer. The M15.2 cabinet height has been increased by 50mm over its predecessor – the increase being in the lower chamber. The speaker sits firmly on its threaded spike-feet and if desired the bottom quarter of the cabinet can be filled with dry sand for extra stability and resonance damping.
Initially the most noticeable change is in the appearance of the speaker – the black baffle has been replaced by a fully veneered front panel. The speaker retains a metal grille, although the 15.2 has the addition of the Epos logo at the base of the grille.
The 150mm woofer features the new Epos die-cast chassis, replacing the plastic chassis used in the original M15. It incorporates a phase plug. The tweeter is similar to that used in the M12.2 - a 25mm aluminium dome with ferrofluid cooling and neodymium magnet system. The tweeter has the Epos logo embossed onto the front plate.
The speakers are bi-wirable, thanks to two pairs of metal five-way binding posts.
The M15.2 is perfect as a high performance 2 channel floorstanding monitor. However it has also been engineered with home theatre application in mind - its design improves imaging and enhances the pace, rhythm and timing characteristics that have long been the hallmark of Epos speaker systems.
If used as the front left and right speakers in a home theatre application, the choice of either M12.2 or M5 speakers for the rear together with the M8 centre channel guarantees a cinema speaker package of the highest order.
